சமயப் புரிந்துணர்வு எனும் போர்வையில் இனவாதம், பொலிஸ் தலைமை – தேசிய ஷூறா சபை அதிருப்தி

கடந்த ஆகஸ்ட் மாதம் 04 ஆம் திகதி கல்கிஸ்ஸ ஜயசிங்க மண்டபத்தில் பொலிஸ் அத்தியட்சகர் ஒருவரின் தலைமையில் சமயப் புரிந்துணர்வு எனும் போர்வையில்  நடைபெற்ற முஸ்லிம் எதிர்ப்புணர்வுக் கூட்டம் தொடர்பில் தேசிய  ஷூறா சபை தமது அதிருப்தியை வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.

இது தொடர்பில் பொலிஸ் மா அதிபருக்கு விளக்கம் கோரி, விசேட கடிதமொன்றையும் அச்சபை  அனுப்பியுள்ளது. தேசிய ஷூறா  சபை அனுப்பியுள்ள  கடிதத்தின் தமிழ், ஆங்கிலப் பிரதிகள் வருமாறு,

அன்பின் பொலிஸ் மா அதிபர் அவர்களுக்கு,

2014 ஆகஸ்ட் 04ஆம் திகதி கல்கிசை ஜயசிங்க மண்டபத்தில் சிரேஷ்ட பொலிஸ் அத்தியட்சகர் அவர்களால் ஒழுங்குசெய்யப்பட்ட கூட்டம்

2014 ஆகஸ்ட் 04ஆம் திகதி சுமார் 150 பேர் தெஹிவளை எஸ்.டி.எஸ். ஜயசிங்க மண்டபத்தில் கூடியதாகவும் முஸ்லிம் பெண்களின் ஆடைகள், முஸ்லிம் சமய, கலாசார நடைமுறைகள் பள்ளிவாசல்கள் போன்ற முஸ்லிம்களுடன் மட்டுமே தொடர்பான விடயங்கள் பகிரங்கமாக தகாதவாறு விமர்சிக்கப்பட்டு பரிகசிக்கப்பட்டதாகவும் தேசிய ஷூறா (ஆலோசனைச்) சபை அறிந்தது.

தேசிய ஷூறா சபையுடன் பகிர்ந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட தகவல்களின் பிரகாரம், இந்நாட்டின் சட்டங்களுக்கு முரணான தீவிரவாத கருத்துகளைக் கொண்ட சில பௌத்த பிக்குகள் உரையாற்றிய இக்கூட்டத்தில் 75 இற்கும் மேற்பட்ட மதிப்புக்குரிய பௌத்த பிக்குகள் சமுகமளித்திருந்தனர். வழக்கத்துக்கு மாறான இந்தக் கூட்டத்தில் பங்குபற்றிய 90%இற்கும் அதிகமானவர்கள் முஸ்லிம்களுடனும் ஏனைய சமூகத்தினருடனும் சமாதானமாகவும் ஐக்கியமாகவும் வாழ்கின்ற பௌத்தர்களாவர். இந்து, கிறிஸ்தவ மற்றும் முஸ்லிம் சமூகங்களைச் சேர்ந்தவர்கள் என கூறிக்கொள்ளும் சிலரும் சமுகமளித்து உரையாற்றியுள்ளனர். நாட்டின் சட்டத்தின் பல ஏற்பாடுகளுக்கு முரணாக நான்கு பௌத்த பிக்குகளால் ஆற்றப்பட்ட உரைகள் முஸ்லிம்களுக்கும் இஸ்லாத்துக்கும் எதிராக வெறுப்பையும் அவமதிப்பையும் தூண்டுபவையாக இருந்ததாகவும் நாம் அறிகின்றோம்.

இது ஒரு பரஸ்பர கூட்டம் அல்ல. சமய புரிந்துணர்வையும் சகிப்புத்தன்மையையும் மேம்படுத்தும் ஒரு கூட்டமாகவும் தெரியவில்லை. அது மனிதர்கள் ஒருவருக்கொருவர் கண்ணியமளிக்கும் சம சந்தர்ப்பத்தைக் கொண்ட ஒரு கூட்டமாக இருந்திருந்தால், பேச்சுவார்த்தைகள் ஊடாக உண்மையான அல்லது உணரப்பட்ட துன்பங்களுக்கு நிவாரணம் நாடும் அத்தகைய ஒரு பரஸ்பர கலந்தாராய்வை ஊக்குவிப்பதற்கும் ஆதரவளிப்பதற்கும் தேசிய ஷூறா சபை ஒரு போதும் தயங்காது.

துரதிஷ்டவசமாக, ஆகஸ்ட் 4ஆம் திகதி தெஹிவளையில் நடைபெற்ற கூட்டம் இந்நிகழ்ச்சியை ஒழுங்கு செய்தவர்களின் பிழையான கோரிக்கைகளுக்கு முஸ்லிம்கள் இணங்காவிட்டால், முஸ்லிம்களுக்கு எதிரான வன்முறையைத் தூண்டுவதற்கு வழிசமைக்கும் என நாம் நம்புகின்றௌம். ஒரு பௌத்த பிக்கு நீங்கலாக, அந்தக் கூட்டத்தின் பிரதான பேச்சாளர்கள் இஸ்லாத்தைப் பற்றியும் முஸ்லிம்களைப் பற்றியும் தமக்குப் போதிய அறிவில்லை என்னும் பாரிய குறைபாட்டை வெளிப்படுத்தியதனால் நாம் எமது அக்கறையைத் தெரிவிக்கின்றோம்.

சூதாட்டக் கொட்டில்கள், தவறணைகள், மதுபான சாலைகள், சட்டவிரோத போதைப் பொருட்கள்,  கசினோக்கள்,  விபசார விடுதிகள் போன்றவற்றின் பரவலான பெருக்கத்தினால் எல்லா இலங்கை மக்களும் துன்புறும் பொதுவான துன்ப,துயரங்களைப் பற்றி இந்தக் கூட்டத்தில் எவ்வித கலந்துரையாடலும் நடைபெறாமை வியப்புக்குரியதாகும்.

முஸ்லிம்களையும் இஸ்லாமிய நடைமுறைகளையும் பகிரங்கமாகத் தாக்கி விமர்சிக்கும் தெஹிவளையில் இடம்பெற்ற இந்தக் கூட்டம் கல்கிசை சிரேஷ்ட பொலிஸ் அத்தியட்கசரின் முன்னெடுப்பின் பிரகாரம் அவரால் ஒழுங்குபடுத்தப்பட்டு அதற்கு அவர் தலைமை வகித்ததாகவும் அங்கிருந்த பார்வையாளர்களுக்கு அவர் உரையாற்றியதாகவும் மிகுந்த வேதனையுடன் தேசிய ஷூறா சபை அறிகின்றது.

நாட்டிலுள்ள பெரும்பான்மையான பௌத்தர்களிடையே தனிச்சிறப்பு வாய்ந்த பொலிஸ் திணைக்களம் தீவிரவாதிகளுக்குக் களம் அமைக்கும் சட்டவிரோத முன்னெடுப்பை மேற்கொண்டு சட்டங்களையும், சர்வதேச ஒப்பந்தங்களையும் நன்கு தாபிக்கப்பட்ட கோட்பாடுகள் மற்றும் நடைமுறைகளையும் மீறி முஸ்லிம்களின் வாழ்க்கை முறையைக் கட்டுப்படுத்துவதில் மேற்கொண்ட வகிபாத்திரத்தையிட்டு நாம் மிகுந்த அக்கறை கொண்டுள்ளோம்.

நாட்டில் உள்ள தேசிய மட்ட முஸ்லிம் அமைப்புகள், உயர்தொழில்துறையினர், கல்விமான்கள் மற்றும் செயற்பாட்டாளர்களைக் கொண்ட மன்றமாகிய தேசிய ஷூறா சபையின் 5-7 உறுப்பினர்களைக் கொண்ட ஒரு குழு இவ்விடயம் பற்றி தங்களுடன் கலந்துரையாடுவதற்கு முடியுமானவரை விரைவில் வாய்ப்பளிப்பீர்களாயின் மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியடைவோம்.

Meeting Organized by SSP, Mt. Lavinia at Jayasinghe Hall, Dehiwala  on 04th August 2014

The National Shoora (Consultative) Council (NSC) understands that a gathering of about 150 persons had met at the S de S Jayasinghe Hall in Dehiwala on 04th August 2014, where matters relating only to Muslims, the dress code of Muslim women, Muslim religious and cultural practices, Mosques etc. had been made the subject of undue criticism and ridicule in public.

According to information shared with the NSC, over 75 respected Buddhist monks had attended this meeting addressed by a few monks with extreme views inconsistent with the laws of the land. Nearly 90% of those who attended this unusual gathering were Buddhists, who live in peace and harmony with the Muslims and the other communities. A few purportedly representing the Hindu, Christian and Muslim communities had also been present and had also spoken. We have learnt that the speeches made at this meeting by four Buddhist monks would have had the effect of inciting hatred and contempt for Muslims and Islam, acts which are in violation of several provisions of the laws of our country.

The meeting was not an inter faith dialogue and did not appear to be aimed at promoting religious understanding and tolerance. If it was an inter-faith dialogue with a level playing field and conducted with mutual respect of one human being to the other, the NSC will not hesitate to encourage and support such mutual consultation through dialogue and seek redress for real or perceived grievances.

Unfortunately, the 4th August Dehiwala meeting, we believe, could lay the foundation for inciting anti-Muslim violence, if Muslims do not comply with the misconceived demands of those orchestrating the program. We express this concern because the main speakers at the meeting, except one Buddhist monk, had displayed a serious lack of knowledge and respect, for Islam and Muslims.

Surprisingly there had been no discussion at the meeting about the common suffering endured by all Sri Lankans due to the widespread proliferation of gambling dens, taverns, liquor bars, illicit drugs, casinos, brothels etc., and the enthronement of crimes, violence, murders, rapes etc., in the country.

The NSC understands with deep disappointment that the Dehiwala meeting to publicly attack and criticize the Muslims and Islamic practices had been on the initiative of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Mt. Lavinia who had reportedly organized, presided and addressed the gathering.

We are concerned over the role of the Police Department in this unlawful new initiative of providing platforms for extremists, as distinguished from the vast majority of Buddhists in the country, calculated to regiment and control the life style of the Muslims, in violation of laws, international treaties and well established principles and practices.

The National Shoora Council is a forum comprising of national level Muslim organisations, professionals, academics and activists in the country and will appreciate if you will enable a delegation of 5-7 office-bearers to meet with you and to discuss this matter, at your earliest convenience.
